Eduardo Masferrer

Criminal and Immigration Attorney

Recently named a “Top 40 Under 40” by The National Trial Lawyers, Attorney Masferrer has also been named a Rising Star by the National Law Journal. Throughout his career, Attorney Masferrer has successfully represented clients who have been accused of many different types of crimes, including robbery, drug trafficking, sexual assault and murder. He has represented criminal clients at the trial level in both federal and state court and has handled appellate cases in the Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals. Attorney Masferrer also has extensive immigration law experience. Prior to opening his firm in 2003, Attorney Masferrer worked as a Staff Attorney with the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services. He is a graduate of Boston College Law School.

Immigration Attorney

Caitlin Donovan, originally from Stonington, Connecticut, first joined our firm in 2010 as a receptionist and later became the firm’s immigration paralegal. She now works for Masferrer and Associates as an immigration attorney, representing clients in removal defense matters before the Boston Immigration Court, appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and consular processing matters. 

She attended The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where she completed her dual degree in English and Spanish, studying in Leon, Spain as part of a two-semester program.  She graduated cum laude in 2009, and worked for a business immigration law office from 2009 to 2010. In May of 2010, she joined Masferrer and Associates. Cait worked on numerous removal defenses cases such as adjustment of status in proceedings, asylum, bond motions, and applications for cancellation of removal for both permanent and non-permanent residents. She also assisted with various family-based petitions. In the fall of 2012, Cait began her study of law at Suffolk University Law School where she concentrated in Health and Biomedical Law and served as the Journal of Health and Biomedical Law’s Chief Content Editor.  During the 2014 and 2015 semesters, Cait was also a Certified Student Attorney under SJC Rule 3:03 for the Health Law Clinic representing low-income clients with Social Security disability appeals before the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, as well as petitioners seeking adult guardianships before the Suffolk Probate and Family Court.  In April 2015, Cait was awarded the Association of Corporate Counsel Law Student Ethics Award for her clinical work with clients facing challenging immigration issues adversely affecting their access to health care. She recently graduated cum laude from Suffolk where she simultaneously earned her Health and Biomedical Concentration with distinction. 

Cait is a fluent Spanish speaker and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in November of 2015, and to the U.S. District Court District of Massachusetts in the spring of 2016. She currently lives in the metro west area with her husband and golden retriever, Riley.


Casey L. Riley

Associate Attorney

Casey L. Riley is the Immigration Attorney at Masferrer & Associates, P.C., representing clients in removal defense matters before the Boston Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, as well as matter before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and U.S. Department of State, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of criminal and immigration law. Casey handles both the firm’s detained and non-detained clients and regularly appears before the Executive Office of Immigration Review and state courts across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  

While attending Boston College Law School, Casey focused her studies on immigration and human rights law. Casey was an Articles Editor for the Boston College Journal of Law and Social Justice and served as the Vice President of the Women’s Law Organization. She served as a Law Clerk for an internationally recognized immigration law firm specializing in the representation of employers and employees across the world. She also previously served as a Law Clerk in the Drug Task Force of the United States Attorney’s Office in Boston, MA. Prior to pursuing her degree in law, Casey graduated from Boston College with a dual degree in Communications and Hispanic Studies. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 




Kelsey Briggs joined the firm in December of 2015 as a Legal Assistant and became a Paralegal in August of 2016. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in May of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Anthropology. During her time at Mount Holyoke, Kelsey participated in study abroad programs in Chile and Mexico. In Chile, she studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso, where she took courses in Chilean culture and politics. In Mexico, she studied at the Autonomous University of Yucatan at the School of Anthropology and spent time volunteering with community outreach projects. She later spent three months in Rapa Nui as a Program Assistant for Terevaka Archeological Outreach, an educational program designed for Rapa Nui high school students. Kelsey continues to develop her Spanish language skills and cultural knowledge to be of better service to the immigrant and refugee community of Boston.
